My Vision Is To Change It All

As I really and truly start to picture my professional life I can't help but think of what I truly want to do with myself. I think that I have come to realize that I want to do something within science instead of business, like I previously thought. I want to help people, and dedicate my life to making a difference in peoples lives. I have decided that as of next semester I am going to start taking biology classes and changing my major altogether to health science. As of now, my vision for the future is to be a doctor of some sort helping people. It slightly saddens me that it took me so long to figure it out, I kind of wasted three years of college, but on the other hand I am glad I figured it out while I was still young enough to do something about it without it getting in the way of my life.If I really decide to go through with this, I would like to be in medical school within three years.

  1. it's good to hear that at last you have figured out what you want to be in the future, before it goes too far away from you. It's better to make it clear in college rather than in middle age, isn't it? I always admire doctors who help their patients out of suffering, misery and pain. I find OBIS doctors are so great that they devote their time, money and give up so much to give vision back to the patients all around the world. Too bad that I am really bad in science. Just one question, how would you do to accompolish it other than taking biology classes in the coming semester? Would like to hear more on how you will work it out :)

  2. Well, i think it's not too late to do something, I also felt the same way at some point. When I was in the Royal Thai Navy for two years, at that time i never thought that i would come to America. I thought i would be in the Navy for the rest of my life. Imagine being far away in the island somewhere for a very long time. Long story short, i ended up in America and i had enrolled in the ESL program at Hunter college for 2 years in order for me to be fluent in Speaking and Writing in English to be ready for College. I thought that all of those years were wasted in my opinion to just waste my time studying another language. In retrospect, i thought that it was the most useful skills i have learnt because those skills made me able to express myself the way other people understand without trying to open a dictionary all the time. I think you should follow your dream..Good luck!

  3. Like the person above me mentioned, it's not too late to change your vision, and it's still early because you're still in college; college is all about finding out what you want to do/be in life. You also gave yourself an idea of a time limit as to when to achieve your goal of becoming a doctor, and that's really good. The world always needs more doctors to help people. Good luck! Always keep your vision in mind, and you'll get very far in life.

  4. Your goal of becoming a doctor is great! That had my parents also in mind for me, but unfortunately I can't deal with blood. With 20 years of age you are still so young, that's why I wouldn't worry about time in your case at all. Like Nutdanai mentioned, it is never too late for changes that make you a happier person.

  6. It's great that you want to help people, and it's even better that you figured out your true calling while you're still in college. Many people go though life not really being happy at what they do. I once saw this commercial where the guy states that "if you do something that you love, you'll never work a day in your life." I think that qoute applies to you, And I do truly hope that you follow through with your dreams of becoming a doctor and remember "Shoot for the moon, and even if you miss you'll land among the stars."

  7. Nice vision. I guess you're confronting something that has and still does terrify me...not knowing exactly what it is you want to do. I think its both brave and wise for you to take action to change your career path now, before its too late, even though it would mean having wasted some years. I think taking bio classes next semester should be a good step towards deciding for sure if it is what you want to do. Perhaps you could also do some research on the specific topics within science that you have considered, so that you have more confidence in any decision you do end up making.
    Best of luck.

  8. Good thing you discovered your true passion in college; you definitely have time to accomplish your goal. I also love science but I've decide to study business now and maybe when I retire devote all my time to science. Good luck, hope you accomplish all your goals.

  9. Vision is something that sometimes changes with the things you encounter. Life is going to continue to throw curve balls at you and it just depends on how will your vision can adjust to the changes.
